Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood Recording Christmas Duets Album
Catching up with local media prior to the resumption of the Garth Brooks World Tour With Trisha Yearwood, the stars of the show offered a recap of their holidays along with a glimpse of a gift we may all get to unwrap for Christmas 2016. “Christmas was fantastic,” Garth said backstage in Sunrise, FL, explaining that his family members are all healthy and happy and detailing that he and Trisha “got to spend time with Miss Yearwood’s family down in Georgia…[and] had two Christmases – one in Nashville, one in Oklahoma.” His recap prompted Trisha to joke, “You’re just full of information today!”
Her remark would turn out to be more true than she might’ve guessed! Talking about Trisha’s vocal talents in response to one reporter’s question, Garth revealed, “We were in the studio until about 2:00 this morning finishing up the Christmas album.” Though both have talked about such a project for some time, this was the most recent and most tangible info they’ve offered to date, including word that one song that could end up on the album is “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” “It was supposed to be a duet…[but] 30 seconds into the song I just walked out of the studio because I knew it wasn’t going to be a duet,” Garth says. “It was amazing.”
The Garth Brooks World Tour With Trisha Yearwood began its 2016 run this weekend in Sunrise, FL with three shows that handily eclipsed Garth’s previous attendance record in the area (set in Miami back in 1996). Next stop – Baltimore, a city Garth’s never played where ticket sales have shattered decades-old records originally set by The Beatles (in 1964) and Neil Diamond (1993). Garth and Trisha will play five shows (as compared to the Fab Four’s two) January 22, 23, 29 and 30 at the city’s Royal Farms Arena.
