NASHVILLE, Tenn. – December 17, 2015 – On Monday, Cole Swindell released his emotional new single, “You Should Be Here,” from his forthcoming album, and the ground swell of response was quick and overwhelming. The song, written by Swindell and Ashley Gorley, was originally inspired by the sudden passing of Swindell’s father, but for many fans it has resonated in a variety of ways of missing someone. Thousands of fans began sharing their personal stories via Twitter #YouShouldBeHere and Facebook after hearing the song and seeing the video when it world premiered on Yahoo!.
Just hours after the release of the song, Swindell tells Rolling Stone, "It's only been a couple of hours and the stuff I'm already reading, it's unbelievable," says Swindell, recounting several fan stories filling up his social media feeds before the end of the day. "This is a new experience for me. I've experienced four hit songs but nothing like this and it's only been since this morning."
“You Should Be Here,” released early Monday morning became the No. 1 most added song at country radio on the first day it dropped and shot to No. 1 on iTunes Country chart and was in the iTunes Top 10 All Genre.
Also on Monday, Swindell became the first country artist to participate in Shazam Sessions giving their 100 million+ active mobile users an opportunity to see an exclusive acoustic performance of “You Should Be Here.” The Session was placed on the Shazam.com homepage on Monday.
On Sunday, the day before the single release, Swindell told his personal story behind song to the Tennessean saying, “From start to finish, it was one of those things where we both had chills when we were writing it. It felt so real to me, but everybody can relate. I’ve been able to experience so many things since I’ve had my record deal. I just know that [Dad] was proud, but I know that these moments - if he was there and could share it with me - it would be even better. This song is kind of my every moment.” He added, “I think this song can touch people and I want them to have it for the holidays. If they can’t be with the ones they love, I hope this song makes them think of them.”

Opening with the actual conversation Swindell shared with his dad about signing a record deal with Warner Music Nashville, the scenes flash through some of Swindell’s most exciting career milestones, including his Grand Ole Opry debut to winning the 2015 ACM New Artist of the Year.
The four-time 2015 BMI Award winner (for celebrated songwriting credits for No. 1 hits for Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan as well as his own “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight”) wraps his second annual sold-out Down Home Tour presented by Monster Energy Outbreak Tour this weekend in support of his new EP, Down Home Sessions II, just released last month. Swindell is the debut country artist of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour.
The Georgia native’s achievements in the past year include not only the 2015 ACM New Artist of the Year Award as well as the CMA Triple Play Award for earning (at least) three No. 1 songs in a 12-month period, but he has also sold over 3.6 million tracks and more than 175 million streams for his Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville album, Cole Swindell and Down Home Sessions I and II.
