Grand Ole Opry Salutes St. Jude Kids

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  (Sept. 16, 2015) – The Grand Ole Opry® celebrated the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® during a special show last night as part of this month’s “Cause For Applause.” Performers included Martina McBride, Randy Owen, Steve Wariner, Chris Janson, Del McCoury Band, Henry Cho, Love and Theft and Bill Anderson.

During the show, photos and videos of special moments from 26 years of Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® played on the Opry’s signature barn screen. Longtime Country Cares for St. Jude Kids®  co-founder Randy Owen and Opry announcer Bill Cody brought three of the night’s honored guests/St. Jude patients (two  year old  Harper, six year old Mack, twelve year old Ally) onstage and presented them with a box of gifts on behalf of the Opry. Throughout the evening, the St. Jude patients and their families were able to sit backstage and talk to several of the night’s performers including Martina McBride, Steve Wariner, Chris Janson and Owen.

A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold for tonight’s show will be donated to Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® as part of “Country Cares,” the Opry’s “Cause For Applause” in September.
