NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (November 29, 2018) – Stepping away from his coach’s chair, country music superstar Blake Shelton will hit the stage on NBC’s The Voice on Monday for a live performance of his latest single “Turnin’ Me On.” The “smoldering mid-tempo number” (Rolling Stone) is the third single from his chart-topping Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville album Texoma Shore and has already been featured on Late Night with Seth Meyers, TODAY, the 2018 CMT Music Awards and more.
“We were at a show last year in Louisiana and I’m sitting on the bus with my guitar and started playing a little melody that I was hearing in my head and then I wrote a verse, and a chorus, I realized it was going somewhere and I felt good about it, “ said Shelton. “I called up my friend Jessi Alexander and asked her if she could help me with it and she and I and Josh Osborne ended up writing this song, I’m so proud of it – and it’s not hard to figure out who this song is about.”
After releasing throwback tunes “Tequila Sheila” and “The King is Gone (So are You),” Shelton will wrap his “Friends and Heroes Session” with tomorrow’s release of “Every Which Way But Loose.” Originally recorded in 1978 by Eddie Rabbit as the title track of the adventure comedy film starring Clint Eastwood, Shelton provides his own take on one of his favorite country classics. Fans can listen to “Tequila Sheila” HERE and “The King is Gone (So are You)” HERE.
Shelton said of the “Friends and Heroes” tracks, “One of the coolest things I’ve been able to do in my career, because I’ve been fortunate, is be a little selfish along the way and be able to record some songs that I grew up loving. I feel like they have helped shape who I am as an artist and were what inspired me to want to be a country singer.”
The Platinum-selling entertainer is also supporting those he admires on the 18-date “Friends and Heroes 2019” run. The trek will bring together artists that span the timeline of country music (see tour announce video HERE). Very special guest Lauren Alaina joins Shelton for the run along with special appearances by country icons the Bellamy Brothers, John Anderson and Trace Adkins. The tour will begin on February 14 in Oklahoma City, OK (all dates below).
“Turnin’ Me On” follows smash hits “I Lived It” and “I’ll Name The Dogs,” the latter of which notched Shelton the 25th No. 1 single of his career and recently earned its RIAA Gold certification. All can be found on his chart-topping Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville album Texoma Shore that People described as a record of “easy-going country gems.” It became his sixth record to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and marked his 11th all-genre Top 10.
