“It put us in a pretty special club,” Brust continues. “So many artists have written or recorded songs that really create a sense of why home is so special, right? And when Chris and I were talking about some of them, we thought it would be cool to put a couple down to share with anyone who loved our song, to give them a little bit more – but also something a little bit different, too. Maybe turn people onto some songs that really stand out to us, but also have that same feeling, that same reverence for what home means.”
LOCASH put the two songs on their social platforms as a gift to the people who love their music, especially “Hometown Home,” as well as a way to have a good time making music just because. Two decades in, the duo who are brothers as much as friends want to always remember the love of how people grow up and the things that truly matter in this life.
“Sometimes it’s good to just do things because they make you happy,” says Brust. “No master plan, no big reason, just ‘Man, these songs feel good! Let’s play ’em.’”
“Pretty much everybody knows both of them,” adds Lucas. “But the thing about songs that are part of your DNA, it’s easy to not really think about them. They’re just there. But when you hear them like this, you stop and think about how good those songs sounded when you first heard them, when that moment was happening. To me, that’s what ‘Hometown Home’ was trying to capture. I’d like to think maybe we did, and maybe people will love these covers just as much.”
